As A Matter of Art is Austin's premiere mixed material art concept. Utilizing a various mixture of raw and natural elements, Fish, as he is known to friends, creates a variety of artwork. Incorporating a vast mix of materials and elements such as scrap, metal, stone, natural wood and glass, Fish draws inspiration from many facets of his life including music, various cultures, nature, emotions, memories and family. The lighting and backdrops in his design studio reflect the mood and harmony of his pieces.

Each piece is gently crafted with select materials, then the materials are patiently and strategically applied before a final thought as to the which color schemes will be used. Art deco furnishings are also a favorite. As A Matter of Fact...Fish will freely and enthusiastically discuss each piece and inspirations for his designs.
